Could a hotel be converted into an alternate care facility (ACF) and provide med-surg and ICU-level care? Team Colorado says yes! Come learn how a team of experts assembled to develop this concept and write the Hotel2Hospital (H2H) Conversion Playbook that describes the just-in-time conversion (within 2-4 weeks) of a hotel with more than 150 rooms into an ACF capable of hospital-level care.

The H2H ACF would operate as a “wing” of a hospital for a minimum of 3-4 months. To validate the concept, a series of exercises and a demonstration of the concept in a hotel were conducted. Hotel rooms were converted into an intensive care unit (ICU), two medical/surgical rooms, a nurses’ station, a lab, a pharmacy/medication room, a radiology room, and other support spaces. A hotel conference room was also converted into an ICU. Each space was equipped with needed clinical and non-clinical equipment.
