R7DHRE Preparedness Webinar:
No Tiny Feet: Building a Multidisciplinary Team for Simultaneous NICU Evacuation
February 11 | 1pm CT | ZOOM
There are more than 1,400 Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the United States, ranging in size from a few beds in smaller critical access hospitals to over 150 patients within large tertiary care hospitals. Prior evacuation research and case reports discuss evacuating NICUs last due to patient complexity.
In this webinar we will explore the process of establishing a multidisciplinary working group dedicated to NICU evacuations, emphasizing the unique plan of concurrent NICU evacuation during hospital-wide patient evacuation efforts.
This webinar will also highlight key elements such as the importance of NICU-specific annual drills, the creation of actionable documents identifying neighboring hospital capacity, and the implementation of daily NICU census tools to quantify individual patient’s evacuation complexity.
Attendees will gain concrete strategies applicable across healthcare settings including rural facilities empowering them to optimize preparedness and collaboration within their coalitions.
