National Preparedness Month has been recognized every September since 2004. The initiative is managed and sponsored by FEMA's Ready Campaign in conjunction with the Ad Council and aims to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies.

The R7DHRE puts on educational/training webinars frequently that cover a wide range of topics. We aim to make these webinars available for viewing at any time. Currently, there are 29 webinars on the R7DHRE website.

According to the American College of Surgeons (the entity that certifies trauma centers nationally), there are 16 level I trauma centers located in the 4 states that make up region 7 (IA, KS, MO, NE). Visit the ACS trauma page, to learn more about what it takes to qualify as a trauma center, and to find the trauma center closest to you. The R7DHRE was created as a demonstration site by the US Department of Health and Human Services in 2018 as one of two grants to develop a regional preparedness, all-hazards health system that utilizes healthcare coalitions and teams from a diverse group of partners.

5. According to the HHS Incident/Event Tracker, there are currently 5 incidents/events active in the US and its territories. These events range from the Maui wildfire recover to the more recent Change Health cyberattack. The tracker can be found on the R7DHRE website in the "Situational Awareness" section of the "Resources" page.

9. Burn Center verification provides a true mark of distinction for a burn center. Verification is an indicator to government, third-party payers, patients, families, and accreditation organizations, that the center provides high-quality patient care to burn patients from the time of injury through rehabilitation.

Approx 150,000. The HHS emPOWER Map provides a monthly updated de-identified total at the national, state, territory, county, and ZIP Code levels for Medicare beneficiaries that are currently enrolled in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service Medicare Fee-For-Service (Parts A/B) or Medicare Advantage (Part C). The map also provides a monthly updated total for the number of Medicare beneficiaries who have had an administrative claim for one or more types of electricity-dependent durable medical and assistive equipment (DME) and devices, as well as at-risk combinations data for those who rely on a certain essential health care service(s) and any electricity-dependent DME and devices.

The Region VII Disaster Health Response Ecosystem partners with 22 pediatric hospitals throughout the region to ensure readiness for some of our most vulnerable patients. In the past 24 months there have been 51 reported breaches of unsecured protected health information at healthcare facilities in Region 7 (Any breach that affects 500 or more individuals must be reported to HHS.). These breaches have affected over 330,000 patients throughout our region.

The Region VII Disaster Health Response Ecosystem partners with 28 health care coalitions to ensure healthcare preparedness throughout the region. Iowa has 8, Kansas has 7, Missouri has 7, and Nebraska has 6.
